Carriage Door Push Plates, Qty 3, two of which are gilt (9½" x 2½") and one brass (11¾ x 2½"). Manufactured by James Cartland & Sons, Constitution Hill, Birmingham. Makers initials are cast into the back along with the date, 1864 a nd the Registration No 190677. Each has a most ornate pattern cast into the face. Vendor`s father was foreman of the Carriage Repair Shop Swindon and he acquired these on his retirement as they were most likely spares held in the Stores. Confirmed by the Collections Officer at the Steam Museum Swindon, to be identical to those held by the Museum that originated from the 1897 Diamond Jubilee Train. Apart from the Museum holdings, these are almost certainly to be of utmost `royal` rarity and a significant piece of British railway heritage.
