Smokebox numberplate 90506 ex WD Riddles 2-8-0 built by The Vulcan Foundry in 1944. Allocated to Doncaster, Mexborough and 40B Immingham from where it was withdrawn in January 1966. Scrapped later the same year at Drapers Hull. In lightly restored co ndition.
Worksplate LNER 2681 1929 ex Gresley N2 0-6-2 T built by Hawthorn Leslie in 1929 and numbered 2681, 9587 and 69587. Allocated to Hatfield, King's Cross and 34B Hornsey from where it was withdrawn in July 1960 and scrapped at Doncaster Works. Oval cas t brass, face restored, measures 9in x 5in.

Worksplate YORKSHIRE ENGINE CO LIMITED MEADOW HALL WORKS SHEFFIELD No 2824 1961 ex 300HP Diesel Hydraulic 0-4-0. Delivered new to Richard Thomas and Baldwin Steel Works Ebbw Vale which became part of British Steel in 1967. Oval cast brass, in as remo ved condition, measures 11in x 6in.
GWR brass cabside numberplate 312 ex Taff Vale Railway Cameron A Class 0-6-2 T originally numbered TVR 42, then GWR 439 and GWR 312. Allocated to Barry and 88A Cardiff Cathays from where it was withdrawn in June 1956 and scrapped. Face restored with Caerphilly painted on the back. One of only ten ex TVR A class locomotives that carried brass cabsides.
Midland and Great Northern Railway 3 Aspect Handlamp stamped in the reducing cone and side M&GNJR and brass plated on the side M&GNJR 2344 GD. WRIGHT SPALDING. Complete with reservoir burner and all glasses. Lightly cleaned.
A Wise's patent staff with integral locked metal tickets dating from 1880 measuring 14in long. Used to demonstrate the principle of the patent (No.1030 of 1896) the staff is engraved A to B and B to A. The key for one set of tickets is present, as ar e two metal tickets at one end and three at the other. The back of the staff is engraved with the words 'Wises Patent' and 'McKenzie & Holland Worcester England'. Berkeley Deane Wise (1853 - 1909) held various railway and architect roles including the Chief Engineer of the Belfast & Northern Counties Railway. Raynar Wilson's book Railway Signalling includes a drawing and description of the staff. A second such staff is known to be housed at the National Railway Museum in York.
BR FF enamel station sign BOOTLE NEW STRAND. In very good condition and mounted on an original totem bracket. This sign dates to around 1968 when the station name was changed from Marsh Lane & Strand Road. Measures 26in x 10in.
London Midland and Scottish Railway Stanier hooter type locomotive whistle. This is the upright version that were fitted to the Ivatt tank locomotives. Stamped B 4536 in the mounting boss and stands 14in tall in lightly cleaned condition.

Cab Plate E6019 No1 END ex British Railways Class 73 Electric locomotive built by Vulcan Foundry in 1966 and named County of West Sussex in 1986. Engraved aluminium measuring 4in x 1.5in. In as removed condition.
Totem BR(NE) FF CLECKHEATON CENTRAL, with black edged letters, from the former London North Western and Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Joint station between Bradford and Mirfield. In excellent condition with some minor loss to the black edges on some of the letters. NOTE This is one of the fully flanged totems with the wide flange all around.
Worksplate PECKETT & SONS LTD BRISTOL No 2026 1942 ex Oil fired W7 0-4-0 ST built to standard gauge and supplied new to the Royal Ordnance Factory Drigg Cumberland and later moved to Shanks & McEwan Ltd, Corby Steelworks. Oval engraved brass face polished, measures 15.25in x 8.5in.
Diesel locomotive flamecut Cabside Panel 25247 ex British Railways Class 25 built in 1964 by BR Darlington and numbered D7597. Allocated to 16A Nottingham and withdrawn from Carlisle in June 1983 and scrapped later the same year at BREL Swindon. The panel is neatly cut and has original painted numbers and data panel. In good condition measures 32in x 18.75in.
Nameplate and Badge. THE SCOTTISH HOSTELLER ex British Railways class 37 diesel locomotive built by the English Electric company in 1965 and numbered D6997, renumbered in 1974 to 37297 and 37420 in 1985. Delivered new to 86A Ebbw Junction and later t o Inverness where it was named at Inverness station in June 1986, nameplates removed in May 2000. Rectangular cast aluminium in as removed condition measures 73in x 9.75in and badge 13in x 8.5in. Together with a Lima 00 Limited edition model of the locomotive with certificate in mint boxed condition.
LNER enamel Poster Board Heading LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY. In very good condition with minor face chips and slight loss to one corner, measures 80in x 5.75in and is mounted on board for easy display.
Smokebox numberplate 48310 ex LMS Stanier 8F 2-8-0 built at Crewe in 1943 and originally numbered 8310. Allocated to Crewe South, Nuneaton, Bescot, Longsight, Fleetwood and 10F Rose Grove from where it was withdrawn in December 1967 and scrapped the following year. In lightly restored condition.
Worksplate BEYER PEACOCK GORTON LTD MANCHESTER POWER EQUIPMENT BY ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES LTD AND SULZER SERIAL No 8034 1965 ex British Railways Diesel Class 25 originally numbered D7624 then 25274 in 1974. Allocated new to 41A Darnall and w ithdrawn from Bescot in 1982. Scrapped at BREL Swindon in 1985. Rectangular cast aluminium in as removed condition, measures 13in x 6.5in. Note this is the first of the class 25 locomotives built by Beyer Peacock.

Southern Railway 9ct gold 50 years LONG SERVICE MEDAL. Enamelled face with Southern Railway Coat of Arms and engraved on the back E.A. Davies 1879-1929, hallmarked .375 and assay mark for Birmingham. In excellent condition and in original case.
Manchester Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Company free Ticket issued to James Smithells. Front marked with company name the rear is marked Free Ticket Not Transferable. In very good condition measures 1.25in diameter. James Smithells was the Ge neral manager of the Caledonian Railway company having previously been employed as traffic manager of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.
London & South Western Railway silver free pass issued to J. Smithills Esq Caledonian Ry. Front marked with company name and full Coat Of Arms. The rear is marked L&SWR Free Pass No 217. In very good condition measures 1 in diameter. James Sm ithells (correct spelling) was the General manager of the Caledonian Railway company having previously been employed as traffic manager of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.
Caledonian and London & North Western Railway free special pass No 56 issued for 1881. One side is marked with Caledonian Railway the other London and North Western Railway. Gold embossed leather in very good condition measures 2in x 2in. Probabl y issued to James Smithells who was the General manager of the Caledonian Railway company as this pass came with the other two listed in this auction.
British Railways gold free pass issued to J. Morrison. Front marked British Railways Board and enamelled with a red background. The rear is marked J. Morrison 563. In very good condition measures 1.125 in diameter. John Morrison who was known as Jack was originally from Glasgow and moved to the London area in 1970 until his death in 1991.
Great Western Railway Staff Association Bronze music festival medals x 5 consisting of years 1930, 1931, 1939 x2 and 1937 and another unmarked. All six in excellent condition complete with original boxes.
Totem BR(SC) FF BELLGROVE from the former North British Railway station between Coatbridge and High Street Glasgow. In excellent condition.
Diesel locomotive flamecut Cabside Panel DB 968016 ex British Railways Class 31 built in 1958 by Brush and numbered D5508 and 31008 in 1974. Allocated to 30A Stratford and taken into departmental stock in February 1981 and numbered DB 968016. It was used as carriage heating at Stratford before being withdrawn in October 1982 and scrapped in 1985 at BREL Crewe. The panel is neatly cut and has original painted numbers and also visible is its earlier number 31008 and data panel. In good condition measures 31.5in x 15.5in.
Cardiff Railway enamel sign re SMOKING IS PROHIBITED signed E. A. Prosser General Manager and Dock Master Bute Docks Dec 1920. Has some chipping to the edge and a couple of areas of well executed restoration. Measures 22in x 17in.
Worksplate LMS BUILT 1925 DERBY. Locomotives built this year were 4P 4-4-0 41085-41114 and 4F 0-6-0 44207-44216. Oval cast brass, face cleaned, measures 10.5in x 6.in.

Tyers No6 brass and steel single line tablet DEREHAM WEST JCN - SWAFFHAM. From the former Great Eastern railway section closed in 1968. In good ex railway condition. This is the weighting tablet as all the rest from this machine were fibre.

Nameplate BAMPTON GRANGE ex GWR Collett Grange Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon in 1936 as order number 308 and numbered 6802. Allocated to Laira, Worcester and 86G Pontypool Road from where it was withdrawn in August 1961 and scrapped later the same yea r at Swindon. In good original condition. The Grange was at Bampton near to Brize Norton Oxfordshire.

Nameplate CHARLES DICKENS and Crewe Electric depot plaque ex British Railways class 92 electric 92022. Built by Brush Loughborough works number 1083 introduced 12/94 and named from new first with transfer style name then cast plates fitted 04/95. It worked the first scheduled class 92 hauled train through the Channel Tunnel. Nameplates removed around 2014 - 2016 while in storage. Currently operating in Bulgaria. Cast aluminium in as removed condition and measures 59in x 10in. Sold on behalf of DB Cargo (UK) Ltd and comes complete with a certificate of authenticity.
