World War Two enamel sign Re PRECAUTIONS for storing AW BOMBS. Albright and Wilson Bombs were used mainly by the Home Guard in there Northover Projectors. The Projector was one of the makeshift anti-tank weapons developed in the wake of the Dunkirk e vacuation when a German invasion seemed likely and more conventional anti-tank weaponry was in short supply and prioritised for the Army, it fired a 2.5 inch phosphorus grenades named the A W Bomb. This was a self igniting phosphorus fired petrol bomb in a glass bottle. In very good condition with minor chipping to the corners measures 12in x 8in.
