London & North Western Railway 8 inch mahogany cased fusee railway clock with a cast brass bezel and a rectangular plated wire driven English fusee movement. Supplied to the LNWR circa 1870-1880 by John Walker London and numbered 2260. The origin al dial displays N. Ball & Son Leicester which would have been applied when Ball's took over clocks in this area and has been covered with a subsidiary dial correctly written JNo WALKER 68, CORNHILL & 230 REGENT ST LONDON. The case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass lock and the LNWR enamel clock numberplate 2260 is screwed onto the left hand side. The LNER clock records show this clock as last in use at Thorpe On The Hill Signal box and was numbered BR(E) 15539 but number not applied. This clock was restored and overhauled by Dr D.R. Parr and comes complete with a comprehensive information sheet and a copy of the LNER clock record. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key.

The English wire driven fusee movement with shaped shoulders has been recently been lightly cleaned and oiled and is in good condition. The case with flame mahogany veneer, brass bow tie lenticle window with the glass replaced with a mahogany panel, 2 side doors and bottom door with GWR ball bearing catch is in good ex service condition. The GWR ivorine numberplate GWR 2163 is screwed to the left hand side. A lovely timepiece supplied by J. Collings of Cardiff circa 1870. In working condition complete with pendulum and key.

Great Western & London & North Western Joint Railway (Birkenhead Joint Committee) 14 inch mahogany cased drop dial fusee railway clock with a spun brass bezel. The rectangular plated wire driven English fusee movement with shaped shoulders is attached to the dial by means of a false plate. The original dial displays L&NWR JOYCE WHITCHURCH. The superb mahogany trunk case with ebonised stringing and carved ears has two side doors and a bottom door secured with a brass lock and has the LNWR enamel clock numberplate 62 screwed to the front and LMS brass clock numberplate 9516 screwed to the side and ex Capenhurst written on the back. A rare clock supplied circa 1850 possibly by one of the top London makers and then later taken over by Joyce. In good working order complete with pendulum and key. This clock is featured in the Railway clock book by I.P. Lyman page 131.

The ebonised mahogany case has the original side flap door, a replaced bottom door secured with a brass turn catch and a spun brass bezel. The LNER clock records show this clock as last in use at Grimsby Docks Parcels office and was MSL clock number 359. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. Circa 1870.

London and South Western Railway 18 inch double dial V shaped wall mounted clock supplied to the LSWR in 1891 by John Gaydon of Barnstaple at a cost of 20-0-0d. The weight driven movement is complete with both dial gears and freely turns, the weight and pendulum are missing. The original white enamel dials are lettered JOHN GAYDON 99 HIGH ST BARNSTAPLE No 100. The wooden case is in very good condition and retains its original green painted finish and both cast brass bezels, one lacking glass. The Southern Railway clock records show that this clock was in use at Plymouth Friary Station Platform and was Transferred to the Western Region 1/10/1950. This is the only clock of this size supplied to the L&SWR and is worthy of restoration. Measures 20in deep, 24in tall and each side 24in.

The chain driven English fusee movement is in clean condition and is of typical London style with recta ngular plates. The white enamel screen printed and hand painted dial has been partially restored with LB&SCR replacing B.R.(S) and 1077 replacing 1077B but the rest showing John Walker 1, South Molton St London is original. The rear of the mahogany case is stamped 1077 B. The Southern clock records show that this clock was originally supplied to Brambletye Signal Box, Forest Row and was later transferred to Wimbledon Signal & Telegraph Office. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key.

John Bradford Harper was born in Malton 1854, he joined the Nor th Eastern Railway and was a clerk in 1871 at Driffield, then in 1901 Traffic Manager and by 1922 Assistant General Superintendent and started collecting artefacts from the Stockton & Darlington Railway, which were exhibited at the 1925 Centenary, he also founded a committee and was responsible for the formation of the York Railway Museum, Queens Road was opened around 1926/7.
