Great Eastern Railway 6inch Mahogany cased Fusee Bracket clock supplied to the G.E.R. by Bevan of Tottenham London circa 1880. The English chain driven fusee movement has rectangular snailed plates, the original dial has been re written at Doncaster clock works post 1949 and reads BR(E) 55 and retains its original cast brass bezel with a keyed lock. The Gothic style case has a glazed rear door. The L.N.E.R. records show that this clock was used at Liverpool Street Station General Manager's office. A rare and unusual Railway timepiece used by senior employees, complete with pendulum and keys and in working condition but not tested for timekeeping, stands 15in tall.
Norfolk & Suffolk Joint Railway 16in dial teak cased railway clock with a cast brass bezel with the clock number 3653 scratched into the hinge. The rectangular plated chain driven English fusee movement has snailed plates with N&S stamped ont o the backplate and are held together by turned screwed pillars, this would have been supplied to the N&S circa 1903 when the station opened. The original dial is lettered N&S JOINT LINE. The case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass lock ( key missing) The LNER clock records show the clock as being in use at Hopton On Sea station platform. The clock would have been taken out of service in 1970 when the station closed and was sold to the previous owner by British Railways Norwich. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. A truly important clock and the first one of these joint clocks to appear at auction in basically as removed condition. A copy of the clock record accompanies the lot.
Great Eastern Railway 12in dial teak cased railway clock with a cast brass bezel. The rectangular plated chain driven English fusee movement has snailed plates with GER stamped onto the backplate which are held together by turned screwed pillars, thi s would have been supplied to the GER circa 1900. The restored dial is lettered GER and the rear of the dial has BR(S) 11330 painted on the back and various repair dates. The case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass lock, and has GER branded in the back and also its later BR(S) number 11330 stamped. The SR clock records show the clock as last being in use at New Cross Gate Goodwood Road Goods Office which would have been taken over by the Southern Region post 1948 and also that it was originally GER clock number 243. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and keys. A copy of the clock record accompanies the lot.
BR(M) 8 inch oak cased railway clock with a spun brass bezel and a Smiths going barrel platform escapement movement. The original dial is lettered BR(M) 18142. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with key. A nice entry level Railwa y clock circa 1950.
GWR mahogany cased PORK PIE signal box clock. The quality French made movement is in recently overhauled condition and fitted with a new Swiss platform escapement, the enamel dial is hand painted GWR 0.36 and has a few hairline cracks but is free fro m restoration. The brass back of the case is hand engraved GWR 0.36. These are a superior clock to the later Smiths type. Measures 6.5in diameter and in full working condition.
Highland Railway 14in dial mahogany cased regulator railway wall clock. The rectangular plated movement has shaped shoulders, six spoke wheels, deadbeat escapement, Harrisons maintaining power, a gut line and a wooden pendulum rod with a zinc bob and brass cased weight and is in good clean condition. The original dial which has been lightly restored displays the makers name P.G. WILSON INVERNESS who were one of the main suppliers of clocks to the Highland Railway Company. The mahogany case with glazed front door is in nicely restored condition and stands 65in tall. A superb example In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum, key and weight. Note there is an identical clock to this one now on display at the Strathspey Railway Boat of Garten station.
London and South Western Railway 8 inch Mahogany cased drop dial fusee clock with a cast brass bezel supplied to the LSWR circa 1906 by J. Fox of Barnstaple at a cost of 2-10s-0d. The English fusee movement with rectangular plates held together by tu rned tapered pillars has been overhauled and the white enamel dial lettered L&SWR J.F. FOX LATE JNo GAYDON 188 BARNSTAPLE has been restored. The Mahogany case is in very good condition and features fine figured mahogany and is stamped in the back 188 SW. The Southern Railway clock records show that it was last in use at Winchester Booking Office. Complete and in working condition with pendulum and key but not checked for accuracy. A copy of the clock record accompanies the lot.
North British Railway 14in dial mahogany cased regulator railway wall clock. The dial which has been lightly restored displays the makers name JAs RITCHIE & SON ENDINBURGH 12730 who were one of the main suppliers of clocks to the North British Railway Company. The mahogany case with glazed front door is in nicely restored condition and stands 60in tall on the back of the case is a BR label dated 10/06/87 sending the clock from Aberdeen to Collectors Corner Euston for sale, so we can assume that the clock was possibly in use at Aberdeen. A superb example In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum, key and weight. Note there is an identical clock to this one now on display at the Strathspey Railway Boat of Garten station.

In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. A copy of the clock record accompanies the lot.
GWR 12in dial mahogany cased railway clock with a spun brass bezel and a wire driven fusee movement with rectangular plates with shaped shoulders stamped W&H SCH which stands for Winterhalder & Hofmeier of Schwarzenbach Germany. The original dial is lettered G.W.R and barely visible is SPIRDION below the winding hole and the rear is chalked with the clock number 2516. The case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass turn and unfortunately the ivorine numberplate is missing but there is clear evidence on the left hand side of the back box where it was originally located. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. Circa 1890. Spiridion were based in Cardiff and supplied some of the Welsh pre grouping companies including the Rhymney and Cardiff Railways.
British Railways North Eastern Region 6 inch mahogany cased drum clock. The original dial shows BR(NE) 13201 and MADE IN ENGLAND. The mahogany drum case retains its original cast brass bezel and is also stamped on the back BR.NE 13201.The Smiths 7 da y going barrel movement with platform escapement is in good working condition, but not tested for timekeeping. The LNER clock records show this clock as last being in use at York Establishment Staff Office Toft Green Chambers Welfare Officer (Women) Ladies Waiting Room. Comes complete with key and a copy of the clock record. Measures 8.5in diameter x 4in deep.
Great Northern Railway 8in mahogany cased fusee clock by John Walker of London. The English wire driven fusee movement has rectangular plates and turned pillars and is in good clean condition. The dial has been repainted post 1948 by the clock worksh ops at Doncaster and now displays BR(E) 9797. The LNER clock records confirm that clock No 9797 was last in use at Holloway Carriage Sidings Box and was previously GNR clock no 960. A nice 19th century Walker timepiece in working condition complete with pendulum , key and a copy of the clock record, but not tested for timekeeping.
GWR brass drum clock with original enamel dial GWR KAY & CO PARIS. Stamped 4902 on the case, movement and back. The French movement has had the GWR modified winder fitted. In good working condition but has not been checked for timekeeping. Dial m easures 3.25in diameter and is free from chips but has a couple of small hairline cracks.

THAMES TUNNEL opening day commemorative medal. THAMES TUNNEL 1200ft COMMENCED 1824 SUSPENDED TILL 1833 OPENED 1843. The front also has the bust of Isambart Marc Brunel father of Ismabard Kingdom Brunel who also assisted on the tunnel. Measures 1.5in diameter, in excellent condition.

The Station Hotel was jointly owned by the Highland, Nor th British and Caledonian Railway Companies and was a favourite of Queen Victoria.
