Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway cast iron Bridge plate CK & P RAILWAY 78. From the bridge over the River Glenderamackin just to the west of Threlkeld station. Oval cast iron partially restored, measures 12in x 8in. This was found in the undergrowth near the bridge in 2001 and a picture accompanies the lot in this condition.
LNWR cast iron gate notice. LONDDON & NORTH WESTREN RAILWAY NOTICE EXTRACT FROM 8 VIC., CAP. 20, SEC. 75 re shutting and fastening gate. This is the much rarer version with a second paragraph referring to offering a reward to anyone giving inform ation on offenders. Face restored rear original, measures 18in x 17.875in.
Derbyshire County Constabulary cast iron police station sign dating from Queen Victoria's reign with the Queens crown and Garter. In as removed condition with trace of blue paint and original wooden back board, measures 15in x 8in. These plaques were mounted in the front of rural Police Houses/Stations to identify where the local Constable was situated. Several Police Forces had their own versions of the Plaque but few have survived as the majority of rural Police houses were sold off from the 1980's with any Police insignias being removed and / or destroyed. Not all plaques had the full name of the Constabulary on them such as this Derbyshire plaque.

Great Western Railway brass drum clock with original enamel dial GWR KAY & CO PARIS. Stamped 3398 on the case, movement and back. The French movement with key wind is in working condition. Dial measures 3.25in diameter and has a few hairline crac ks and a small area of restoration by the 10 o'clock marker.
British Railways Southern Region 8 inch oak cased fusee railway clock with a rectangular plated wire driven English fusee movement, supplied to the Southern region in 1959 by Stockall, Marples & Co at a cost of 11-14-0d. The original dial display s BR(S) 11600 and the case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass turn. In working order recently oiled, but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. The SR clock records show this clock as last in use at Crediton Permanent Way Inspector and was maintained by Garnish & Winkles. A copy of the Southern Railway clock record accompanies the lot.
British Railways Southern Region 8 inch oak cased fusee railway clock with a rectangular plated wire driven English fusee movement, supplied to the Southern region in 1952 by Stockall, Marples & Co at a cost of 10-3-4d. The original dial displays BR(S) 11236 and the case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass turn and is stamped 11236 on the back. In working order recently oiled, but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. The SR clock records show this clock as last in use at Dorking North Chief Clerk's Office and was taken out of Railway service in December 1966. A copy of the Southern Railway clock record accompanies the lot.
London & North Western Railway 12 inch dial mahogany cased railway clock with a spun brass bezel supplied by Thwaites & Reed of Clerkenwell in 1887. The large rectangular plated chain driven English fusee movement has turned pillars and is st amped on the front plate T&R 15185. The dial has been partly restored in places and displays JOHN WALKER 1 SOUTH MOLTON ST LONDON 13919. The case has one side door and a bottom door and is stamped 13919 on the backbox. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. A nice clock by one of the top dial clock makers.
North Eastern Railway 12in dial mahogany cased railway clock with a spun brass bezel and a chain driven English fusee movement with A frame screwed plates stamped W&H SCH which stands for Winterhalder & Hofmeier of Schwarzenbach Germany and h as been professionally cleaned and restored. The original dial is lettered LNER 2898 and also ghosted N.E.R. 791. The case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass turn. The LNER clock records show this clock was last in railway use at Darlington, District Engineer Stores Office, Whessoe Lane Shops and that it was NER clock number 791, a copy of this accompanies the clock. In working condition but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key.
Midland Railway oak cased 12 inch drop dial mahogany cased English fusee railway clock supplied circa 1870 by John Smith & Sons of Derby. The English gut driven fusee movement with rectangular plates with shaped shoulders and turned pillars has r ecently been cleaned and overhauled. The original dial which has been repainted in the late 1960's with Arabic numerals and B.R. The case has 2 side doors and a bottom door secured with a brass lock and is in good condition complete with the LMS brass oval numberplate LMS 15182 pinned onto the bottom of the drop. In working condition but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and LMS stamped key.
GWR oak cased PORK PIE signal box clock. The quality French made movement has been recently oiled, the silvered dial is engraved GWR and the back of the case is stamped 0.153, indicating this is an early post grouping clock. These are a superior cloc k to the later Smiths type. Measures 6.5in diameter and in working condition but not tested for accuracy.
Great Eastern Railway 12 inch teak cased English fusee railway clock supplied to the railway circa 1890. The case with a one piece turned convex surround, spun brass bezel, one side door and a bottom door which is missing, the case retains its green baize lining to the front of the back box and is branded GER four times The dial has been repainted post 1960 by the British Rail clock workshops at Doncaster with Arabic numerals and is lettered BR 5501. The brass chain driven movement has rectangular plates which are stamped GER and although dirty is working well. The LNER clock records show that this clock as being last in use at Highgate Carriage & Wagon Department Mess Room and a copy accompanies the clock. Complete and in working condition with pendulum and key.
South Eastern & Chatham Railway oak cased 18 inch dial weight driven regulator railway clock supplied to the SECR circa 1900 probably by Grimshaw Baxter & Elliott Ltd of London. The original dial has been repainted by John Walker post 1948 an d is lettered BR(S) and numbered 1366 SE. The oak cased has been lightly restored and has a brass numberplate 1366 screwed on the inside of the door and stands 83in tall. The large brass rectangular plated movement has four spoke wheels, deadbeat escapement, Harrison's maintaining power, wooden pendulum rod with a zinc bob, brass cased weight and weight pulley. The Southern railway clock records show it spent its entire railway working life at Elmstead Down Local Platform. In working condition complete with pendulum, key and a copy of the clock record, but not tested for timekeeping.

The large brass rectangular plated movement has four spoke wheels, deadbeat escapement, Harrison's maintaining power, wooden pendulum rod with a brass bob, brass cased weight and weight pulley. The Southern railway clock records show it spent its entire railway working life at Bexhill Central Down Platform. A rare clock, In working condition complete with pendulum, key and a copy of the clock record, but not tested for timekeeping.

The original dial has been repainted in correct pre grouping style and is numbered 245 the case is also stamped 175B and retains its LB&SCR Winding and regulating label and stands 55in tall. The large brass rectangular plated movement has four spoke wheels, deadbeat escapement, Harrison's maintaining power, wooden pendulum rod with a zinc bob, brass cased weight and weight pulley. The Southern railway clock records show it spent its entire railway working life at Hassocks Clayton Tunnel Signal Box. One of 44 of this type of clock supplied for use in signal boxes, In working condition complete with pendulum, key and a copy of the clock record, but not tested for timekeeping.
Great Northern Railway mahogany cased 10 inch English fusee railway clock lettered on the dial LNER 10671 with a spun brass bezel. Supplied by Potts of Leeds supplied circa 1880. The chain driven English fusee movement has shaped shoulders and cut ou t to the bottom and has recently been oiled. The original dial shows LNER 10671 and the mahogany case has two side doors and a bottom door with the brass lock removed. The LNER clock records show it was last in use at Whitemoor Yard Master Timekeepers Office and was GNR clock number 519. In working condition complete with pendulum, key and a copy of the LNER clock record, but not tested for timekeeping.
British Railways Eastern Region 6 inch mahogany cased mantle clock. The original dial shows BR(E) 13848 and SMITH EMPIRE MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN. The mahogany case retains its original cast brass bezel. The Smiths 7 day going barrel movement with platf orm escapement is in good working condition. The LNER clock records show this clock as last being in use at Doncaster Stores Tech Storekeepers Office. Comes complete with key and a copy of the clock record. Measures 10.5in x 9.25in x 3.75in deep.
Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway 12in dial mahogany ebonised cased railway clock with a spun brass bezel and a wire driven English fusee movement with rectangular screwed plates probably supplied by Winterhalder & Hofmeier of Schwarzenbach German y. The original dial is lettered LMS 156 and the case has one side door, a bottom door secured with a brass catch and also its original LYR clock steel plate 156 BRIERFIELD screwed to the top and a later LMS clock numberplate LMS 10122 screwed to the left hand side, there is also some slight damage to the wooden surround. In working order but would certainly benefit from a clean and not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. The late vendors typed notes indicate that this was last in use at Bolton Trinity Street Station and this is taped to the inside of the side door.
GWR post grouping oak cased Pork Pie wall clock with an English Smiths going barrel movement and dial marked GWR 0592 Smith 8 Day Made In England. Measures 6in diameter overall and is in good working condition having just been oiled.

The restored dial displays JOYCE L&NWRy WHITCHURCH . The case has one side door and a bottom door with the lock removed and the LNWR enamel clock numberplate 871 is screwed onto the right hand side. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key.

The original dial with GWR in block is in original condition. The mahogany case with arched front door is lovely original condition with the GWR ivorine numberplate GWR 1969 screwed inside and stands 60in tall. A superb example In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum, key and weight.
Great Western Railway pre grouping nickel cased pocket watch with a English fusee lever movement fully signed SKARRATT & CO WORCESTER, key wound and key set. The dial is free from chips and cracks and is enamelled SKARRATT & CO WORCESTER. The rear of the case is machine engraved GWR 1196 and 5130. In full working condition recently professionally overhauled and fitted with a new mainspring complete with key. A superb early GWR watch.
