Worksplate LMS BUILT 1920 DERBY ex Fowler 481 Class 4-4-0 built to order number 4476 with 3250 Gallon Tenders. Locos built were LMS numbers 447, 452, 453, 454 and 456. These were not new builds but renewal of the Johnson 4-4-0 locomotives. Oval cast brass face restored, measures 10.5in x 6in. Not common.
Worksplate THE ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. LTD. VULCAN WORKS, NEWTON-LE-WILLOWS, ENGLAND No. 3422/D880 1963. Ex British Railways Class 37 originally numbered D6936 becoming 37236 Mar 1974 and 37682 Mar 1987. New to 87E Landore Apr 1964. It was named Hartlep ool Pipe Mill from Jul 1996 until Feb 2002. Sold to HNRC in 2007 and later worked on DRS Nuclear traffic until stored and withdrawn Oct 2014 and was cut up by CF Booth, Rotherham Nov 2016. Rectangular chromed brass in as removed condition, measures 10.25in x 4.5in.
GWR cast iron cabside numberplate 5604 ex Collett 0-6-2T built at Swindon in 1925. Allocated to Landore, Duffryn Yard and 87F Llanelli from where it was withdrawn in November 1962 and scrapped at R.S. Hayes/Birds, Tremains Yard, Bridgend. In restored condition.

BR(SC) FF enamel doorplate PRIVATE. In good condition with minor edge chipping, measures 18in x 3.5in.
Nameplate ARROW ex British Railways class 67 diesel 67017. Built by General Motors / Alstom in Valencia Spain and landed in the UK 9th March 2000. Named 30th January 2002 at Walsall station and the plates removed sometime in 2016. Loco currently in u se with Transport for Wales. Machined aluminium in very good condition measures 29.5in x 11.75in.
Nameplate DERBYSHIRE ex Gresley D49 4-4-0 built at Darlington in 1927 and numbered LNER 251, 2701 and BR 62701. Allocated to Hull Botanic Gardens, Bridlington and 53A Hull Dairycoates from where it was withdrawn in September 1959 and scrapped Darling ton Works. Curved cast brass nicely face restored.
Worksplate LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY DARLINGTON WORKS 1926 4705 ex Gresley J39 0-6-0 originally numbered 1454 then 4705 and lastly 64705. Allocations included Hull Dairycoates, Blaydon, Alnmouth, Wakefield and 56B Ardsley from where it was w ithdrawn in March 1962. Scrapped later the same year at Darlington Works. Oval cast brass with an extended curved lip at the rear to enable it to fit on the centre splasher of these locos. Measures 9in x 5in and has been restored.

New to 88A Cardiff Canton. It worked in France from Aug 1999 until S ep 2000. Withdrawn Oct 2000 and sold into preservation at the Stainmore Railway later went to the Wensleydale Railway until reinstated to Europhoenix Locomotives UK in Aug 2019. However, it was scrapped on site at Leicester LIP Apr 2021. Rectangular chromed brass in as removed condition, measures 10.25in x 4.5in.
BR(SC) FF enamel direction sign CRIANLARICH UPPER STATION with British Railways totem and left facing arrow, from the former North British Railway station between Helensburgh and Fort William. In good condition with minor edge chipping, a couple of s mall face repairs and slight loss of shine. Measures 28in x 13in.
Smokebox numberplate 31305 ex SECR Wainwright H class 0-4-4T built at Ashford in 1906 and originally numbered SECR 305 and SR 1305. Allocated to Ashford, Faversham, Gillingham, Bricklayers Arms and 73A Stewarts Lane from where it was withdrawn in Nov ember 1962 and scrapped at Cashmores, Great Bridge. In original condition complete with original bolts and nuts and the Ashford A on the back.

Diamond shaped cast brass face cleaned measures 15.25in x 6.25in.

Allocations included Stewarts Lane, Bricklayers Arms, Norwood Junction, Eastleigh and 71I Southampton Docks from where it was withdrawn in September 1962 and scrapped at Eastleigh Works. In lightly restored condition with an old weld repair to the left hand corner.

Smokebox numberplate 70053 ex British Railways Riddles STD Class 7 Britannia 4-6-2 built at Crewe in 1954 and named MORAY FIRTH. Allocated to Polmadie, Crewe, Holyhead and 12A Carlisle Kingmoor from where it was withdrawn in April 1967 and scrapped a t J McWilliams (Shettleston). Face restored. Note we sold its later replacement steel plate in July.

Cabside numberplate E3030 ex British Railways Class 83 Electric built by English Electric Vulcan Foundry as works number E2934/E270 in October 1960, re numbered to 83007 in 1972. Originally allocated to ACL WCML Electric Traction and withdrawn from L G Longsight Electric in July 1983. Scrapped the following year at V. Berry Leicester. Steel backplate with stainless steel letters, measures 32in x 7.5in. Face restored rear original.

Oval cast brass in as removed condition, measures 9in x 5in.
Nameplate ABBOTSFORD from the LNER Peppercorn A1 4-6-2 built at Doncaster in 1948 and numbered 60141. Allocated to Kings Cross, Copley Hill and 50A York from where it was withdrawn in October 1964 and scrapped Draper's Hull. In as removed condition, rear with other names of similar length plates cast in. The first time either side from this locomotive has been offered for sale.

Worksplate YORKSHIRE ENGINE CO LIMITED MEADOW HALL WORKS SHEFFIELD No 2498 1951 ex 0-6-0 ST delivered new to Samuel Fox a subsidiary of United Steel Companies and numbered 9, sold to the NCB in 1959 and used at Chislet Colliery Kent, purchased in 196 9 for preservation and is now at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre Quainton Road. Oval cast brass, face restored, measures 11in x 6in.

Withdrawn from Immingham Jan 2000 and sold into preservation, moving to the Churnet Valley Railway in 2003 and then to the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre in 2007, now the GCR (N) Ruddington where it is currently under restoration. Rectangular chromed brass, front cleaned, measures 10.125in x 4.5in.

Worksplate SUPER SENTINEL PATENT LOCOMOTIVE LOCO No 8211 Ex 4wVBT one of four supplied new to the LMS in July 1930 and numbered LMS 7182 and BR 47182. It spent all its working life in Scotland, based at Ayr from where it was withdrawn on 10 February 1956 and scrapped at Kilmarnock Works. Tombstone shaped cast brass measures 10in x 5.25in. Face lightly cleaned.

Totem BR(SC) FF FALKIRK GRAHAMSTON from the former North British and Caledonian Railway Joint station between Polmont, Larbert Junction and Carmuirs Junction. In good condition with a couple of face chip repairs and slight mottling and a slight bend to the left hand end.
BR FF enamel direction sign BRITISH RAIL TYNESIDE CENTRAL FREIGHT DEPOT with BR double arrow logo and left facing arrow. In excellent condition measures 28in x 13in. An extremely rare version and possibly the only one with the double arrow logo.
Axle Box cover LMS TIMKEN 1947 MADE IN ENGLAND ex LMS Ivatt designed diesel 10000 which was the first mainline diesel in Britain built at Derby works in 1947. An item of historic importance as both 10000 and 10001 were scrapped in 1968 and very littl e survives. Circular cast iron lightly face restored measures 13.5in diameter.
Cast aluminium cabside numerals D7078. Ex British Railways Class 35 Hymek diesel hydraulic built as works number 7982 in 1963. Allocated new to 81A Old Oak Common May 1963 and withdrawn from 86A Cardiff Canton Oct 1971. Scrapped at Swindon Works in M ay 1972. As removed condition. See the worksplate lot 417 in this auction.
Worksplate No 2059 DARLINGTON 1948 ex LNER Peppercorn A1 4-6-2 numbered 60140 and named BALMORAL. Allocated to Kings Cross and 50A York North from where it was withdrawn in January 1965 and scrapped at Drapers Hull. Oval engraved brass face polished rear with 140 stamped in. Measures 13.5in x 7.75in.
Nameplate STOCKTON HAULAGE ex British Railway Class 37 Diesel 37511 built by English Electric in 1963 and numbered D6803 then 37103 in 1973 and 37511 in 1986. Named by Glyn Samuel at Stockton Station. Nameplates removed in November 1995 and the locom otive was again renumbered to 37607. Cast aluminium measuring 66in x 10in and is in as removed condition.
Nameplate KING CHARLES 1 ex Great Western Railway Collet King Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon in 1928 as order number 243 and numbered 6010. Allocated to Plymouth Laira, Old Oak Common and 88A Cardiff Canton from where it was withdrawn in June 1962 and scrapped at Swindon works. In nicely restored condition, the rear of the plate is stamped L IN Lot 243 indicating this is the left hand plate.
