A rare plate as not many makers plates survive from J94's.

Named at Plymouth station on 14/8/02 and carried until removed Nov 2007. Named Powderham Castle in 2022 and taken out of service at Laira in 2023. Exported to Nigeria in Oct 2023. Nameplate WESTMINSTER ABBEY ex British Railways Class 43 HST 43027. Allocated new to St. Philips Marsh (Bristol) HST depot Oct 1976. Named at Paddington station on 29/5/85 with cast alluminium nameplates and these were removed in May 1990 and the sta inless steel ones were not fitted. Later named Glorious Devon and Acton Castle. Taken out of service at Laira in Dec 2023 and currently stored there. Rectangular engraved stainless steel in ex stores condition measures 39.5in x 6in. Sold on behalf of Great Western Railway for their chosen charities and comes with an official GWR certificate of authenticity confirming the original owner.
Worksplate ROBERT STEPHENSON & HAWTHORNS LTD NEWCASTLE WORKS 7645 1949 ex 0-4-0 ST delivered new to Corrall & Co Hamworthy and named Western Pride. Sold to Pollock Brown Northam and scrapped in March 1966. Oval cast brass in lightly cleaned c ondition measuring 13in x 8.5in. Note this is the other side to the one we sold in July 2021.

Nameplate BUILTH CASTLE ex Great Western Railway Collett Castle 4-6-0 built at Swindon in 1925 as order number 232 and numbered 4086. Allocations included Laira, Worcester, Carmarthen, Cardiff Canton, Stafford Road and 81D Reading from where it was w ithdrawn in April 1962 and scrapped at Cashmore's (Newport). In lightly cleaned original condition and stamped in the back LOT 232 No4 R indicating this is the right hand plate.

Allocated to Scarborough, York and 50C Hull Botanic Gardens from where it was withdrawn in November 1958 and scrapped at Darl ington Works. Curved cast brass nicely face restored, rear of nameplate stamped L 222 indicating its is the left hand plate, original fox not stamped. Named after the Hunt in Gloucestershire which is one of the oldest in the country.

Shipped to Northern Ireland in 1944 for use by the Northern Counties Committee numbered NCC 19 and designated Y class , used on Belfast Harbour Commissioners lines at Belfast docks and withdrawn in 1963 and scrapped. Oval cast brass face lightly restored, measures 11.5in x 8in.
Engraved brass plaque DESIGNED BY V L RAVEN ESQ MADE AT YORK LOCO WORKS NER 1895. This was Raven’s first year as the NER’s Assistant Mechanical Engineer and it is thought this may be from electrical equipment he designed at the works to provide ele ctricity to light York railway station and the Royal Station Hotel. In original condition with wax infil, measures 3in x 2in.

Totem BR(SC) HF BRUCKLAY from the former Great North Of Scotland Railway station between Dyce and Fraserburgh. In excellent condition.
Nameplate DEFIANCE ex British Railways Diesel class 50 built by English Electric in 1968 as works number 3819/D1190 and numbered D449 and 50049 in 1974. Named DEFIANCE in May 1978. Originally allocated to D05 Stoke Division and withdrawn from Laira i n August 1991 and Purchased in December 1991 by the Class 50 Society, it now is part of the Fifty fund fleet and is now based at Kidderminster on the Severn Valley Railway. This plate was carried for almost 20 years in preservation. Since preservation, the loco has worked on the mainline since the early 2000s travelling the length and breadth of the UK - Mallaig, Wick and Thurso, Penzance, the Welsh Valleys, Fishguard and everywhere in between with this nameplate attached - running regularly at 100 mph. The nameplate has actually been carried by the loco longer than the original Defiance nameplates were carried by the loco in BR days (May 1978 to August 1991) and comes with an official receipt from the Fifty Fund confirming this. rectangular cast aluminium in as removed condition measures 39.5in x 9.75in.
