London Brighton and South Coast Railway teak cased 7.5 inch dial weight driven regulator railway clock supplied to the LB&SCR in 1863 at a cost of 12-10-0d by Richard Webster of Cornhill London. The dial retains its original LB&SCR 246 dial w riting and the case is also stamped 246B and retains its LB&SCR Winding and regulating label and stands 55in tall. The large brass rectangular plated movement has four spoke wheels, deadbeat escapement, Harrison's maintaining power, wooden pendulum rod with a zinc bob, brass cased weight and weight pulley. The Southern railway clock records show it was used at Kemp Town Junction signal box and also at the Assistant Station Masters office Brighton Station. One of 44 of this type of clock supplied for use in signal boxes, In good working condition complete with pendulum, key and a copy of the clock record. Possibly a sole survivor with its original dial painting.

The English wire driven fusee movement has rectangular plates and turned pillars and is in good clean condition. The mahogany case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass lock and is in nicely restored condition and retains its original cast brass bezel. The dial has been restored by Dr D.R. Parr from its later BR dial writing and clock number 10583 and now displays its original dial writing and the clock number GNR 905. The LNER clock records confirm that clock No 10583 was originally GNR 905 and was in use at Saxilby Kesteven Sidings Cabin. A nice 19th century Walker timepiece In full working order complete with pendulum, keys, copy of the clock record and detailed fact sheet of its restoration by Dr. D. R. Parr.

British Railways Southern Region 8 inch oak cased fusee railway clock with a rectangular plated wire driven English fusee movement, supplied to the Southern region in 1959 by Stockall, Marples & Co at a cost of 11-5-0d. The original dial displays BR(S) 11649 and the case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass turn. In working order recently oiled, but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. The SR clock records show this clock in use at Dorking Deepdene Hotel Accounts office, sold to Mr Parsons. However the British Railways Southern region original receipt made out to Mr Parsons states the clock as having come from Mayfield Signal box so obviously the clock was transferred but not recorded in the records. A copy of the Southern Railway clock record accompanies the lot as does the original purchase receipts.

London Chatham and Dover Railway 14-inch Teak cased drop dial railway clock LC&DR circa 1842 by Gillett of London. The quality English chain driven fusee movement of typical London style has large rectangular plates which are held together by tur ned tapered shouldered pillars, the backplate is stamped 1842 and the front plate is also stamped (underneath the spring barrel) Gillett 1842 London. An enamel painted iron dial with Roman numerals and bearing the legend, B.R.(S) John Walker 1 South Molton ST London 1037 SE. the dial is also stamped in the back 1037 as is the bezel hinge and pendulum bob. A traditional English drop dial clock case manufactured from teak with a four piece turned concave and convex surround affixed to the back box by two battens with four tapered pegs, the back box is of traditional mid 19th century design with one side access door and a bottom door with the lock removed and secured with the normal SER brass turn, the rear of the case is stamped 1037 SE and the right hand side door with original brass numberplate 1037 screwed to the inside, the case also retains its original cast brass bezel. The Southern clock records show that this clock was last in use at Pokesdown Booking Hall and was previously deployed at Whitstable Down Platform Booking Hall. In recently overhauled working condition complete with pendulum and key. A superb and impressive timepiece.

Great Eastern Railway 12 inch teak cased fusee railway clock manufactured for the Great Eastern Railway circa 1870–1880. The quality chain driven English fusee movement in fully overhauled condition has rectangular plates, which are held together by turned pillars. The Back plate has GER stamped in as was sometimes the practice. The teak case is in original condition with a one piece turned surround and a cast brass bezel. There is evidence of baize being applied under the dial as was common practice by the GER, the ivorine number plate 4062 is fixed to the inside of the box and the back of the box is lightly branded GER twice. The enamel painted iron dial with roman numerals bearing the legend B.R.(E) 4062 and this would have been re written post 1948 by the LNER clock work shops at Doncaster. The clock also retains its original Brass Heart shaped hands. The LNER clock records show that this clock was last located at Colchester St Botolph’s Station Goods Office. In good working condition complete with keys and a copy of the clock record.

The quality chain driven English fusee movement in good condition has rectangular plates, which are held together by turned pillars. The mahogany case is in original condition with ornate decoration and a cast brass bezel and inscribed in ink on the inside of the case is E.BEAVEN EUR 6/55. The enamel painted iron dial is in original condition with roman numerals bearing the legend LNER and GER ivorine clock numberplate 3065 and also visible as ghosted writing G.E.R. The LNER clock records show that this clock was in use at Needham Station booking office. In good working condition complete with key and a copy of the clock record. A truly historic timepiece, Beaven became one the main suppliers of clocks to the Great Eastern Railway and Ebenezer's son was later to take charge of the Great Eastern Railways clock workshops at Stratford.
