Worksplate BUILT BY THE BIRMINGHAM RAILWAY CARRIAGE & WAGON Co. LTD. SMETHWICK ENGLAND. SERIAL No. DEL 257 1962. Ex British Railways Class 27 diesel originally numbered D5414 becoming 27043 Apr 1974. Allocated new to 14A Cricklewood Sep 1962 and withdrawn from Eastfield Apr 1980 due to fire damage. Stored at Glasgow Works and Eastfield until loco grounded Nov 1985 and taken to Patersons Tip, Mount Vernon, Glasgow and tipped there wrapped in a plastic bag due to asbestos. Rectangular cast brass, face restored measures 8in x 5.75in.
Totem BR(S) FF WYE from the former South Eastern and Chatham Railway station between Canterbury West and Ashford. In very good ex station condition.
Nameplate EASTERN ex British Railways diesel class 60 60048. Built at Brush Loughborough as works number 950 in April 1991, named at Clydeport, Hunterston on 29th Aug 1997 and nameplates removed in June 2010 . Previously named Saddleback. Locomotive withdrawn from Toton in Nov 2010 and still stored there owned by DB Cargo UK. Cast aluminium in as removed condition measures 50.25in x 17.75in.
Worksplate HUDSWELL CLARKE & CO LTD LEEDS No 1385 1919 ex 0-6-0 ST. Supplied new to the Bury Port & Gwendraeth Railway and numbered B.P.G.V 5 and then 14 and later GWR 2167. Withdrawn in February 1953. Oval engraved brass, lightly face clean ed with 2167 stamped in the back, measures 13in x 8in. Of Colonel Stephens interest as he helped with the re construction of this railway from 1908 to 1913.
London & South Western Railway Stevens brass lever lead 21 FROM ACTON HOME. Cast brass with rear mounting lugs. From Acton Lane Junction Signal Box. In lightly cleaned condition measures 5in x 3.75in.
Flamecut cabside panel 40082 ex British Railways Diesel locomotive built by English Electric in 1960 and originally numbered D282. Allocated new to 50A York and withdrawn from Lonsight in November 1984 and scrapped at Crewe works. In good condition c omplete with data panel and all angle removed. Measures 31.5in x 18.5in.
Great Western Railway top lever locomotive whistle numbered 3555 on the operating lever and stamped GWR on the bottom mounting nut. New research and photographic evidence has come to light thanks to Mark Jepson and Cannon Brian Arman. The Great Weste rn had some locos fitted with these top lever whistles in a short period between 1929-30 as an experiment to try a keep the steam exiting higher up as the standard whistle steam was sometimes obscuring the drivers view, these were quickly superseded by the standard whistles being housed in a steel whistle shield. Photographs exist of 7200, 7201, 4901, 2251 and 6743 with these style of whistles. Stands 15in tall including wooden plinth and has a bell diameter of 3.5in. A super and historic item not seen before although a smaller size one is known to survive.
BR(M) FF enamel railway station direction sign KENTISH TOWN WEST STATION with British Railways totem and right facing arrow, from the former London & North Western and North London Railway Joint station between Kentish Town Junction and Willesden Junction which closed in 1971 due to a fire and was reopened a decade later. In very good condition with minor edge chipping, measures 28in x 13in. Probably the only named piece of British Railways enamel from this station.
Totem BR(E) HF KILLAMARSH CENTRAL from the former Great Central Railway station between Sheffield and Chesterfield. In excellent ex station condition complete with brackets. A rare totem that has only appeared once before at auction 11 years ago.
GWR brass cabside numberplate 4015 ex Churchward Star 4-6-0 built at Swindon in 1911 and named KNIGHT OF ST JOHN. Allocated to Bristol Bath Road and 82C Swindon from where it was withdrawn from in February 1951 and scrapped at Swindon works. Face res tored with boiler and class details visible in the rim.
Nameplate PIONEER ex BURRY PORT & GWENDRAETH VALLEY 0-6-0T built by Hudswell Clarke in 1909 as works number 871. Numbered B.P.G.V. 8 and GWR 2197. Allocated to Llanelli in 1947 and withdrawn from there in October 1952 and scrapped. Rectangular ca st brass lightly face restored, measures 25in x 6.5in. Of Colonel Stephens interest as he helped with the re construction of this railway from 1908 to 1913.
British Railways locomotive headboard THE RAT REQUIEM D7672 FINAL JOURNEY 30 3 91 together with a circular board PREMIER DEPOT HOLBECK 55A measures 15.5in diameter. As carried on the Hertfordshire Rail Tours charter on 30th March 1991. Running as 1Z4 5 it ran from Kings Cross to Leeds and Holyhead and return. The Class 25 was used on the Leeds to Holyhead and return legs. Rectangular cast aluminium in as removed condition measures 39.5in x 17.75in.
BR(NE) FF Black Edged Lettering enamel doorplate MOTIVE POWER DEPARTMENT. In excellent condition with one minor face chip, measures 18in x 6in. Ex Heaton depot, a superb doorplate and probably unique.
Worksplate LNER 9x5 LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY 7277 REBUILT STRATFORD WORKS 1908 ex Holden Great Eastern Railway J66 0-6-0T built in 1886. Numbered GER 277 and LNER 7277. Withdrawn in July 1938 and sold to Ashington Coal Co. and numbered No.1 9, scrapped at Ashington December 1944 Oval cast brass in as removed condition measures 9in x 5in.
Worksplate YORKSHIRE ENGINE CO LIMITED MEADOW HALL WORKS SHEFFIELD No 2815 1960 ex British Railways Class 02 0-4-0 Diesel Hydraulic D2856 and 02004 in 1974. Allocated new to 27A Bank Hall and withdrawn from Allerton in June 1975 and sold to Redland R oadstone Mountsorrel and scrapped in September 1978. Oval cast brass in as removed condition measuring 11in x 6in. A rare plate from a class of 20 and one of only three to receive a tops number. Note this is the other side to the one we sold in 2021.

Nameplate CHARLES FRANCIS BRUSH ex British Railways Class 60 diesel numbered 60098. Named at Brush, Loughborough on 13th April 1992 after the founder of the Brush Electric Company in the USA as it was the 1000th locomotive built at the Brush Falcon W orks since 1945. Nameplates were removed Nov 2009. First allocated to Immingham in Dec 1992, it was stored at Toton in Apr 2004 and currently owned by DC Rail. Rectangular cast aluminium in as removed condition. Measures 81in x 9.75in.

Ex British Railways Class 40 diesel originally numbered D306 becoming 40106 Mar 1974. Allocated new to 5A Crewe Nort h Oct 1960 and withdrawn from Longsight Apr 1983, the last Class 40 to retain green livery. Sold for preservation to the Great Central Railway, Loughborough where it was named Atlantic Conveyor in Aug 1984. Currently resides on the Severn Valley Railway. One of only twenty Class 40s built at Darlington. Rectangular cast brass, face restored measures 10.125in x 4.625in.

Worksplate GREAT NORTHERN RY CO MAKERS DONCASTER WORKS No 1116 1906 ex GNR Ivatt Class C1 4-4-2 numbered GNR 1418 and LNER 4418. It spent most of its working life at 35A New England and was withdrawn from there in February 1945 and scrapped at Doncas ter works. Oval hand engraved brass face lightly cleaned, rear stamped 4418 three times. Measures 17.5in x 9.5in.

Smokebox numberplate 42113 ex LMS Fairburn 4P 2-6-4T built at Derby in 1949. Allocated to Stoke, Low Moor, Walton On The Hill, Brunswick and 9E Trafford Park from where it was withdrawn in July 1965 and scrapped at Drapers, Neptune Street Goods Yard, Hull. In restored condition.
Midland Railway small pattern 3 aspect handlamp. Brass plated on the side S&DJR TEMPLECOMBE JUNCTION 3 BOX HORSINGTON CROSSING also brass plated on the reducing cone JCN 3 BOX and MIDLAND RAILWAY 16052B. In nicely restored condition complete with all glasses, LMS reservoir and burner.
Stainless steel Intercity Swallow, Left hand facing, as removed from a Class 91 electric locomotive. Measures 24.5in long and is in excellent as removed condition complete with tail tips.
Worksplate R & W HAWTHORN LESLIE & CO LTD ENGINEERS NEWCASTLE ON TYNE ENGLAND 2611 1905. Ex 0-6-0ST new to Nailstone Colliery Co. Ltd, Nailstone, Leics and named No 2 PHOENIX. Later moved to Whitwick Colliery, and Donisthorpe Colliery. Scrapp ed by John Cashmore Ltd Great Bridge in 1968. Oval cast brass face lightly cleaned, measures 12in x 7.75in. A pattern that was only used for a few years.

London & North Western Railway Fletchers Double Line mahogany cased Block Instrument, ivorine plated DROYLESDEN JUNCTION stamped L&NWRY No 3354 on the back. In very good ex railway condition complete with bell, both needles move freely. Stand s 24.5in tall.
Worksplate HAWTHORNS & CO LEITH ENGINE WORKS No. 138 1856. From a 0-4-0PT numbered No3 delivered new to the Dalmellington Iron Company and was used there for all of its working life, withdrawn upon closure of the Iron company in 1921 and cut up i n 1924. One of the earliest UK based industrial worksplates to have survived. Cast brass lightly face restored, measures 31in x 6.25in. Comes with correspondence from the NCB to the late Keith Buckle dated January 1963.

Originally allocated to ACL WCML Electric Traction and withdrawn from LG Longsight Electric in August 1983. Scrapped the following year at V. Berry Leicester. Steel backplate with stainless steel letters, measures 32in x 7.5in. In nice original condition.

Nameplate BODIAM ex LB&SCR Stroudley Terrier A1 0-6-0T built at Brighton in 1872 and numbered 70. Sold to the Rother Valley Railway (later the Kent & East Sussex Railway) in May 1901 and then painted blue and numbered No. 3 and named Bodiam, the locomotive was temporarily withdrawn from service in 1931, but returned to the line in 1933. After nationalisation it was taken into BR stock as 32670, continuing to serve on the K&ESR before being moved to Hayling Island. Withdrawn from 71A Eastleigh in November 1963 and saved for preservation. Rectangular chrome plated cast iron in as removed condition with green paint around the edges. Measures 22in x 5.5in.

Kent and East Sussex Railway brass Gate Notice K.& E.S.R. SHUT THIS GATE PENALTY FOR LEAVING OPEN 40 SHILLINGS. Measures 9in x 2in and has been lightly cleaned. This style of notice was only used on the Headcorn Extension and are fairly rare.
