Shedplate 87G Carmarthen 1949-April 1964. This ex GWR shed was home to 40 locos during the 1950s.In the early 60s it housed 5 Manors and, surprisingly, the same number of ex WD 2-8-0s. Face restored with clear Swindon casting marks on the edge and re ar and chalked on the back a loco number from the 78XX Manor class.
Shedplate 87H Neyland 1949-September 1963, then Whitland until December 1963. The ex GWR shed at Neyland had an allocation of 45 locos which at one time included 4 Counties, 4 Halls and a solitary Manor. On closure, sub shed Whitland used the code fo r its allocation of 15 locos until it too closed just three months later. Face lightly restored over original paint, rear and edge with clear Swindon casting marks.
Shedplate 88A Cardiff Cathays 1949 - December 1957, then Cardiff Radyr December 1957 - October 1960, then Cardiff Canton October 1960 - September 1962. The ex TVR shed at Cathays had an allocation of 80 locos, while ex GWR shed Radyr had 55 locos dur ing this period. Ex GWR Canton had an allocation of 130 included 12 Britannias until September 1961. Canton closed to steam in September 1962 and became a diesel depot. Face restored, rear and edge with clear Swindon casting marks.
Shedplate 88B Cardiff East Dock 1949 - March 1958, then Radyr October 1960-July 1965. The former GWR depot at East Dock was home to 60 locos in the 1950s which included an exotic collection of antiquated tank engines. The depot was run down and lost its allocation in 1958, but was to rise from the ashes in September 1962, now coded 88L, when it inherited all of Cardiff Cantons steam allocation; Castles, Halls, Granges and Manors now graced the shed. Ex GWR shed Radyr had taken this code over in 1960 which had around 50 locos during this period. Face restored with a later style Swindon casting.
Shedplate 89A Oswestry 1948 to January 1961, then Shrewsbury January 1961 to September 1963. The former Cambrian Railway shed had an allocation of around 50 locos including 6 Manors during the 1950s. It was recoded 89D, then 6E and closed in January 1965. The ex GWR/LNWR Joint shed at Shrewsbury, formerly 84G, had an allocation of 100 locos including Counties, Castles, Manors and Halls when using this code. Recoded 6D, it closed to steam in September 1967. Face restored with correct Swindon casting marks to rear and edge.
Shedplate 89B Brecon 1949 - November 1959. This ex B & M shed lost its allocation of 13 locos in November 1959 and became a sub shed of 89A Oswestry. For some reason the WR authorities decided to recode it 88K in January 1961, but no engines were ever allocated, It remained open until December 1962. Face restored, rear and edge with clear Swindon casting marks.

A nice selection of Great Western Railway Hotel silverplate tableware consisting of; a pair of salt and pepper pots face marked with the GWR Twin Shield Coat of arms stand 3.5in tall, a nibbles bowl face marked with the GWR roundel measures 4.5in dia meter x 2.5in tall, a Matchbox holder face marked with the GWR Twin Shield Coat of arms stands 3.5in tall and a salt pot complete with blue glass liner and spoon both marked with GWR HOTELS in roundel. Great North Of Scotland Railway silverplate Candle Holder with integral Snuffer, marked on the top in garter GNSR PALACE HOTEL and also Elkington and date stamped A for 1865. The Palace hotel in Aberdeen was purchased by the railway in 1891 and this piece must have had the railway company added after they purchased the hotel. In excellent condition, a rare and unusual piece measures 5.5in diameter x 2.5in tall.
